McShep Awards thanks community

  • Nov. 6th, 2009 at 4:32 PM
There is a comm called [info]beer_onthe_pier to thank the moderators, staff, and volunteers of the McShep Awards. This will be the last year of the awards, and the team this year has gone above and beyond in running them. If you have ever been nominated... if you won... if you ever lost a week to reading through all the past-years' winners or found a gorgeous piece of art via the website... please feel free to drop in and leave a note of thanks and have a look at the great presents (art and such) being shared. If you are on the Awards staff: welcome and thank you! (posted with kind permission from the mods)

The empire strikes back

In recent weeks, we've taken huge steps towards blocking spam accounts on LiveJournal. In fact, we've suspended as many as 30,000 accounts in a single day! We've implemented several pre-emptive measures to prevent the creation of spam accounts, and we've honed our detection of suspicious content. Spam bots are a crafty lot, so we'll continue to refine our tactics and keep up the good fight to keep you safe from spam attacks on LiveJournal.

RSS feeds again

If you're addicted to [info]xkcd_rss, [info]icanhaschzbrgr, or other syndicated feeds, we're pleased to report that we've resolved the update error that was mucking up your RSS feeds. While content was being pulled correctly, it wasn't being posted to the feeds themselves. Late last week, we finally nailed down what we hope was the root problem, so content should post properly. We thank you for your patience.

Prologue

This is Halloween

  • Oct. 31st, 2009 at 1:18 PM
Bleh, Halloween. What can I say, I have never been much of a fan. Most people think it's because I couldn't have candy due to my diabetes but that wasn't it at all. My mom allowed me to be like every other kid, I just have never been one to dress up. I lack that creativity and imagination to make it fun.

I went to Hit the Lights three times last week. Shit I love that band. I really, really do. As far as the show goes, they're up there with New Found Glory, Green Day and Aiden for bands I can go rock out to and not be self-conscious for any reason. I get to be pushed around by dudes, laugh, sing my heart out and throw my hands in air with passion along with them. It's really kind of freeing in a way that my less "rockin'" bands aren't. Love my FOBz to death but they make me self-conscious. I know what those girls who get down too hard look like on the barricade and I'd prefer not to be laughed at, if at all possible.

Anyways, I just want to reminisce about last Halloween. Vegas with Cobra, Hit the Light, Forever the Sickest Kids, and Sing it Loud. I'd like to go back to Nick in short-shorts as the Cop from the Village People, Gabe in his Cobra Kai karate costume that wouldn't stay put on his hips, revealing the sexiness for two songs, and Sing it Loud as Bananas in Pajamas. Oh good times.

I'd love to leave this post with a picture of HTL from last year but sadly, I can't find shit.

Rating: R (dirty language from the boys)
Pairing: the boys

Notes: This is what happened last year. What's in store for the boys this Halloween? Idea stolen from Heavily influenced by the hilarious and hot ficlet "Redecorating" by [info]mischief5 (I really hope you don't mind this little homage) and someone else's mention of action figure sized.. ahems (Sorry I can't find your comment. let me know if you see this so I can credit you. A list of previous episodes can be found HERE. This story comes well after "The Chair". You don't really have to have read any of the other, though reading last year's very short halloween episode might help.
A little treat for Halloween...
