Author's Notes: Written for the 2009 [info]sga_santa for [info]bmouse. Many thanks to [info]sgamadison, who went above and beyond at the last minute to beta for me, and to [info]alyse and [info]moonlettuce for running this wonderful exchange.

Summary: Rodney is confused, John is upset and Ronon and Teyla, as usual, have all the answers.

Tied With String
Word Count: 2317
Pairing: John/Rodney
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: (skip) Bondage
Summary: There had been many times that Rodney had regretted not bringing his toy chest with him to Atlantis.

If you find yourself at the crossroads of insomnia and insanity, this is the place to channel those demons that keep you sleepless. Vivid pictures, poetry, ruminations, and confessions from the nether hours between dusk and dawn. Originally formed to celebrate the city at night, there's a strong urban theme.

Self-described as "a little community with a lot of rage," you can soak up impassioned vibes and read blistering exposes detailing sexist attitudes in the news, pop culture, and science! A must-join community if you are, or love, a feminist. (NB: the topic of whether a "man" can be a feminist is outside the scope of this spotlight, but will probably wind up on the Writer's Block.)

FIC: "Snowflake" by [info]helenkacan PG

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 2:26 PM
A little something I dashed off for [info]casa_mcshep to close off 2009.

TITLE: "Snowflake"
AUTHOR: [info]helenkacan / Helena K.
WORD COUNT: 4,830 words
RATING: Barely PG
SUMMARY: Rodney brings John home for their third Christmas vacation together.
DISCLAIMER: Rodney and John belong to TPTB. ::sighs:: My haven in Muskoka belongs to someone I don't even know nowadays. ::sighs again::

Fic: Yours, Mine, and Ours (G)

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 12:49 PM
A little something written for [info]casa_mcshep

title: Yours, Mine, and Ours
author: [info]neevebrody
rating: G
words:: 1,300-ish
legal: Only the house at Willow Grove Summit belongs to me… and to them.
notes: My wonderful beta is [info]mischief5. I borrowed the name of Dave's daughter from [info]velocitygrass as a sort of homage.
summary: "I just thought it would be nice to have one of our family's genes carry on after us."

Breaking the Mold

  • Jan. 4th, 2010 at 5:29 AM
Title: Breaking the Mold
Pairing: McKay/Keller, McKay/Sheppard, very vague mentions of Sheppard/OFC, Sheppard/OMC, and McKay/OFC
Rating: R
Warning: Bodyswap, discussion of menstruation with possible PTSD implications, does slash really need a warning?
Author’s Note: This was written for [info]sga_santa, for [info]hyperfocused . Post-series, sometime after Atlantis has returned to the Pegasus galaxy and everyone’s settled back in. Also, in my world, clone!Carson is back permanently and shares CMO duties with Keller. Just in case it’s confusing; the first two parts are from John’s POV and the last is from Rodney’s. Thank you[info]momma_66 for the beta and brainstorming help!
Summary: This wasn’t like he’d simply been turned into a girl. That might be a little cool, for a while. But just knowing this body wasn’t his, that it had an original owner, one that would be getting it back, made him nervous about how he treated this body.

Mainstream Art -- McShep Style

  • Jan. 3rd, 2010 at 8:36 PM
I'm a HUGE fan of Steve Walker and I just love seeing his new pieces as they come up. One of the things, from a fandom side, that I love about his work is that many times his art subjects look like John Sheppard or John and Rodney together. Here are some of my favorite ones :)

John walking along the beach

John with his dog on the pier

John smelling Rodney's shirt, as he has left it behind

John rocking out to some beats

John and Rodney 'wrestling'

John and Rodney 'wrestling' on a different floor

Rodney and John raiding the kitchen late at night (John's face is a little off in this one, but squint;)

A title list of all his pieces is here and the list of all available reproductions from the Lyman-Eyer Gallery is here (multiple pages).

Enjoy!

Author: [info]esteefee
Pairing: Sheppard/McKay
Rating: PG
Wordcount: 1,974
Spoilers: none
Categories: ER
Warnings: None necessary. Let me know if I'm mistaken.
Summary: You can't have everything; maybe you shouldn't even try.
ETA A/N: Inspired by this awesome video by symphonyofscience.

On my lj: This One Thing

Fic: Not quite a regular day
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Rating: PG
Summary: It had started out like any other day but then events happened that would change Rodney's life forever.
Genre: first time
Warnings: none
Spoilers: general for the end of season five
Word count: ~6,000

It was just supposed to be a routine mission checking out some lousy energy readings. A damn cakewalk; nice and easy with no life-sucking Wraith or even angry villagers chasing them with spears – not another opportunity for Sheppard to go and get himself killed.

1 Step forward, 2 steps back

  • Jan. 2nd, 2010 at 8:04 PM
Ugh, me. I slightly feel like this is breaking my attempt at changing those shitty aspects of my personality that I want to work so hard on, but since I began talking about this issue here, I've decided to continue to chronicle it. I swear, one day I will look back at these types of things and know there were signs in why I never should have tried in the first place. Optimism, huh? Well if I don't vent the other side somewhere then I will be forced to continue the shittiness in front of everyone.

Yesterday, the first of January, 2010, I started following Denise and Frances on Twitter again. A little over 24 hours later, guess who has started to follow be back? It's frustrating how fucking predictable Denise can be.

Really, there is no point, but if I were to pretend there was one to all of this, it is just to show that I am aware of how these games work and I do not want to fall victim to them or, more importantly, ever be the one to initiate and play them.

I realize that it's all about changing myself and not the other people, but that might be more difficult to adhere by than anything else.

Fic: Rodney's Tempest

  • Jan. 2nd, 2010 at 10:12 PM
Title: Rodney's Tempest
Author: rosiepaw
Rating: PG
Word Count: 3,454

Notes: The blame for this one goes to my mother. Some decades back, I was watching a ballet version of "The Tempest" on television. Mom happened to come into the room while Prospero and Ariel were dancing a pas de deux. She commented that it was unusual to see two men dancing together like that in ballet and then left. I’ve wondered about the relationship between Prospero and Ariel ever since.

The fic will make a great deal more sense if you’ve read at least a synopsis of Shakespeare’s play.

John’s costume in this production was borrowed from A Midsummer Night’s Team by mific. Black feathers? Spirit of the air? John? They all just seemed to go together.
